Dear Friends,
One whole year ago, I was slated to do a women winemakers dinner with Chef Kate Romane and her top-notch team at Black Radish Kitchen in Point Breeze, but a certain COVID-19 had other ideas.
On Saturday March 20, however, we’ll finally be able to combine Chef Kate’s tantalizing flavors with wine (and, of course, wine education!). The Black Radish team has crafted a downright delicious 4-course meal kit for 2 on a night dedicated to Pinot — both Gris and Noir — and we’ll sign into the online classroom together at 6:00PM Eastern to chat about the two bottles of wine I’ve chosen to accompany Chef’s lovingly-crafted menu.
Speaking of the menu, here’s what you’ll be enjoying as part of our “Pinot Pop-Up”:
baked lemon marinated feta with roasted balsamic cherry tomato and herbed olive & grilled onion focaccia
bistro salad with citrus roasted beets and parsnips, walnuts, cashews, shaved onion and tarragon vin
pork shank osso bucco with saffron Parmesan risotto
(vegetarian option - roasted mushroom, gorgonzola and tomato over saffron parmesan risotto)
olive oil cake with berries, amaro whip and toasted hazelnuts
As for the wines? Well, here are the bottles included as your class materials:
Phelps Creek Pinot Gris 2017 (Columbia Gorge, WA/OR) -- Notes of lemon, pineapple, smoke, and almonds burst forth thanks to the deft touch of Frenchwoman Alexandrine Roy.
Kara Tara Pinot Noir 2018 (Elgin, South Africa) -- Rüdger Van Wyk, one of South Africa's rising star winemakers of color from the Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé program, crafts this Pinot from fruit sourced in the cool Elgin district to give lovely red fruit flavor with signature spice and earthiness.
Information for online class login will be sent via the BlueJeans platform before the dinner and class (you all know the drill by now, I’m sure). Please provide your preferred email address at checkout. Again, class begins at 6:00PM on Saturday March 20 and will last an hour.
Also, delivery and pick-up times will be 12:00-3:00PM on 3/20 with any finishing instructions for the meal included. Eat before, during, or after class — choose your own adventure. :)
These will go fast, so don’t delay! I sincerely look forward to a delightful evening of food, wine, and community with you all.
Cheers,
Adam
